Are Emily & Christian Running the Game?
Published: 2026-03-20
Ozzy Falls Back to Earth, and the Rizo-Charlie Showdown We're Waiting For — Survivor 50 Elo Recap, Episode 4
TL;DR: Emily and Christian are the clear early-season MVPs. Both have climbed from B-tier to A-tier with perfect 7-0 voting records across four tribal councils. Ozzy hit his first wrong vote of the season, a reminder of exactly why the model entered him at D-tier: not a lack of ability, but a pattern of being on the outside when the vote comes together. Despite the miss, he is still +30.9 for the season, comfortably his best strategic stretch in years.
Episode Summary: SurvivorElo Episode 4
Quick refresher: SHALLOW rates strategic positioning (voting correctly + outlasting). BEAST rates challenge performance. Both use Elo, so gains and losses depend on relative ratings. Full methodology at survivorelo.com.
Episode 4: What Happened
Vatu lost immunity for the second straight episode. Mike White was voted out. Emily, Christian, and Stephenie voted correctly. Ozzy and Angelina were on the wrong side of the vote; Ozzy's first incorrect vote of the season.
The MVPs: Emily and Christian
Four episodes, four tribal councils, and the SHALLOW model has a clear answer for who is running the strategic game.
| Player | S50 Tribals | Vote Record | Outlast | Entering | Current | Season Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Emily | 4 | 7W-0L | +4 | 1549 (B) | 1593 (A) | +43.9 |
| Christian | 4 | 7W-0L | +4 | 1561 (B) | 1603 (A) | +42.4 |
Emily's +43.9 is the largest SHALLOW gain of any player this season. Christian is right behind at +42.4. Both have attended every tribal council and voted correctly every single time; a perfect 7-0 record in vote matchups. Both have climbed from B-tier to A-tier. Christian's 1603 is a new career high.
What makes this impressive is not just the perfect record; it is the positioning. Emily was the reported swing vote at the Q boot in Episode 3. This week, the majority organized around Emily and Christian while Ozzy, their alliance partner through three straight correct votes, was left on the outside. The model cannot see who planned the vote. But it sees who keeps ending up on the right side when the votes are read, and after four tribals, the pattern is unmistakable.
Ozzy's First Wrong Vote
This episode was the first time all season that Ozzy voted incorrectly. After three tribals of perfect play, he was on the wrong side of the Mike boot and left out of the vote strategy.
This is precisely the pattern the SHALLOW model was flagging when it rated Ozzy D-tier (1462) entering the season. His rating was not low because he is a bad player. It was low because his vote record across previous seasons (particularly South Pacific and Game Changers) is full of incorrect votes. The model does not know why someone voted wrong, just that they did, and Ozzy did it often enough to sink to the lowest SHALLOW rating in the cast.
Episode 4 was a flash of that old pattern. Emily and Christian built the majority. Ozzy was not part of it. It is also worth asking how much of Ozzy's early perfect voting was his own strategic read versus riding Cirie's coattails. His first two correct votes came on old Cila, where Cirie was clearly the strategic center of the tribe. After the swap separated them, Ozzy stayed correct for the Q vote but missed here in Episode 4.
But the important context remains: despite the wrong vote, Ozzy is still having a better strategic season. His season line reads 4W-3L with +4 outlast. A mixed record, but the +30.9 SHALLOW gain tells the real story. He has climbed from D-tier (1462) to C-tier (1493). Three correct votes out of four tribals is good for a player whose previous two seasons ended in blindsides. This time, he was in the majority for three straight tribals before missing one. The model gives him credit for the improvement even as it flags the familiar pattern resurfacing.
The question is whether Episode 4 was a one time stumble or the beginning of the old pattern reasserting itself.
Season-to-Date: SHALLOW Rankings
The full SHALLOW picture for every player who has attended tribal this season. Eleven players (Coach, Jonathan, Dee, Charlie, Colby, Genevieve, Kamilla, Aubry, Chrissy, Tiffany, Rizo) have still never attended tribal. Their ratings remain frozen at entering values.

| Mike | out | 2 | 2W-3L | -4 | 1580 (B) | 1556 (B) | -23.9 |
| Savannah | out | 2 | 1W-6L | -5 | 1588 (A) | 1544 (B) | -44.2 |
| Q | out | 1 | 0W-5L | -6 | 1547 (B) | 1503 (C) | -43.6 |
| Jenna | out | 1 | 0W-7L | -7 | 1582 (B) | 1523 (C) | -59.2 |
Quick hits
Cirie is still #1 but her data is getting stale. She has not attended tribal since Episode 2. Her 1695 is based on two pre-swap tribals with the old Cila tribe. She is coasting on a small sample while Emily and Christian are building their cases in real time.
Stephenie's recovery. After going 0W-5L at the Q tribal in Episode 3, Stephenie flipped to the correct side this week and added 3W. She is nearly back to her entering rating (1563 to 1562). The model sees a player who was on the wrong side, survived, and found the right alliance the following week.
Mike's exit cost less than any previous boot. Mike's -23.9 is the smallest SHALLOW decline of any eliminated player this season (Jenna: -59.2, Savannah: -44.2, Q: -43.6). He entered the post-swap game on the right side of the Q vote, which cushioned his overall fall.
Quick BEAST Update
Vatu lost immunity again, and the challenge numbers continue to deteriorate. Ozzy has now dropped 55 BEAST points this season (1614 to 1559), falling from S-tier to A-tier in the process. He has been on the losing side of immunity every single episode. For a player whose Survivor identity is built on challenge dominance, the model is watching that reputation erode week by week.
New Vatu without Mike is even weaker on paper. Their remaining BEAST roster: Ozzy (1559), Christian (1461), Emily (1458), Stephenie (1399), Angelina (1397). One A-tier player and four who are C-tier or below. Unless Vatu wins immunity next week, someone from this group is going home again.
Compare: Rizo vs. Charlie
These two have not attended a single tribal council yet, but they are one of the most interesting contrasts in the cast. They are the defaults in the /compare tool this week.
| SHALLOW | Tier | BEAST | Tier | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rizo | 1558 | B | 1383 | F |
| Charlie | 1567 | B | 1565 | A |
Nearly identical SHALLOW ratings. Very different BEAST profiles. Charlie is one of the most well-rounded players in the cast: B-tier strategy, A-tier challenges. Rizo is a strategic player with an F-tier challenge rating, making him a mirror of Cirie's profile (high strategy, low challenge) but without the S-tier ceiling. Neither has been tested this season, so these numbers are entirely from their previous appearances. The moment one of them hits tribal, the model will have something to say.
