SHALLOW & BEAST Recap, Survivor 51 Episode 3

Published: 2026-10-13

Rob quits and Patt goes out 6-5 over Kilby, decided by Lewis and Carter; for Episode 4 PROBST has the tribes even and Eric at 12.3% to go home

TL;DR: Rob quit on day 6. Patt was voted out 6-5 over Kilby, and Lewis and Carter, both voting with Toka for the first time, made the difference. SHALLOW scores the quit as a loss to all 18 players still in the game, -65.3, more than the -62.8 Patt took for being voted out; Kilby, Maggie and Thien An lead the season at 1542.7. For Episode 4 PROBST has the tribes even at 50% each to go to tribal council, Eric at 12.3% to go home and Kilby at 10.5%, and a tribe swap at 26%.

Episode Summary: SurvivorElo Episode 3

Quick refresher: SHALLOW rates strategic positioning (voting correctly + outlasting). BEAST rates challenge performance. Both use Elo, so gains and losses depend on relative ratings. Full methodology at survivorelo.com.

PROBST (PRobabilistic Odds for Boots, Swaps and Tribals) forecasts each episode before it airs. The Predictions page has this week's odds; each recap scores the forecast for the episode that just aired and shows the one for the next.

Episode 3: What Happened

Rob had a foot injury from earlier in the game and asked for the medical team on day 6. The doctor found a small cut with no sign of infection and cleared Rob to keep playing; Rob chose to leave, and there was no tribal council. Before leaving, Rob gave the idol from Episode 1 to Carter. Each tribe then sent 1 player to the other camp: Savu drew Carter at random, and Devin went for Toka. A note on the boat told each of them where an advantage was hidden at the other camp, and that they could mutiny by not getting back on the boat. Devin found an extra vote at the Savu well and went back to Toka. Carter did not get back on the boat and stayed on Toka; recaps differ on whether it was intended. Toka found the note in Carter's bag and broke open the oars of their boat, and Brady took the second extra vote out of one and gave it to Maggie. With 11 players to Savu's 7, Toka sat out Jelly, Kilby, Maggie and Mike for the only challenge, reward and immunity together, and lost it after leading on the puzzle. Devin, Brady, Jelly, Mike and Patt planned to vote out Kilby. Kilby and Maggie wanted Mike out; Thien An pushed for Patt instead, and Lewis, who had not been to a tribal council before, and Carter joined them. Patt was voted out 6-5: Carter, Jenna, Kilby, Lewis, Maggie and Thien An voted Patt; Brady, Devin, Jelly, Mike and Patt voted Kilby. Carter and Jelly kept their idols and Devin and Maggie their extra votes. No one played an idol, an extra vote or a Shot in the Dark.

The Toka Vote

All 11 players at Toka's tribal council voted. The outlast record counts Patt and Rob.

Player Vote Vote record Outlast record Start End Change
Kilby Patt 5-0 2-0 1516.0 1542.7 (B) +26.7
Maggie Patt 5-0 2-0 1516.0 1542.7 (B) +26.7
Thien An Patt 5-0 2-0 1516.0 1542.7 (B) +26.7
Jenna Patt 5-0 2-0 1504.0 1531.7 (B) +27.7
Lewis Patt 5-0 2-0 1500.0 1528.0 (B) +28.0
Carter Patt 5-0 2-0 1476.0 1505.9 (C) +29.9
Brady Kilby 0-6 2-0 1516.0 1498.8 (C) -17.2
Mike Kilby 0-6 2-0 1516.0 1498.8 (C) -17.2
Devin Kilby 0-6 2-0 1480.0 1466.1 (D) -13.9
Jelly Kilby 0-6 2-0 1480.0 1466.1 (D) -13.9
Patt Kilby 0-6 1-10 1516.0 1453.2 (D) -62.8

The 6 who voted Patt each beat the 5 who voted Kilby. All 11 outlasted Rob, and the other 10 outlasted Patt.

The ratings no longer move in steps of 4. Last week every rating in the cast was a multiple of 4, because each tribe had voted once from 1500. This vote was the first between players at different ratings, and Elo pays more for beating a higher rated player. Kilby, Maggie and Thien An, at 1516, got 4.0 for beating Brady, Mike or Patt and 3.6 for beating Devin or Jelly, who were at 1480. Carter started lowest of the 6, at 1476.0, and gained the most, +29.9.

Lewis and Carter decided it. They were 2 of the 6 votes for Patt; either one voting Kilby would have sent Kilby home instead. Lewis had not been to a tribal council before and gains +28.0. It was Carter's first episode on Toka and first correct vote of the season.

Devin and Jelly are 0-12. They have voted at both of Toka's tribal councils this season and been on the wrong side both times, and they are the only 2 players still in the game without a correct vote. Brady and Mike were in the majority in Episode 1 and in the minority now; at 1498.8 they are just under the 1500 start.

Patt's -62.8 is mostly the 10 players at the tribal council who outlasted Patt (-41.6) and the 6 who voted Patt (-24.8). Outlasting Rob gave back 3.5.

Rob's Quit

SHALLOW scores a quit as a loss to every player still in the game. Rob was not at a tribal council this episode, so all of Rob's change is outlast losses: 18 of them, to the 17 players still in the game and to Patt, who outlasted Rob by a day. Each was worth 3.5 to 4.0 points.

Player Tribe Outlast record Start End Change
Rob Savu 0-18 1476.0 1410.7 (D) -65.3
Patt Toka 1-10 1516.0 1453.2 (D) -62.8

Rob's quit cost more than Patt's boot. A player voted out loses only to the players at that tribal council: Patt lost 16 matchups, 6 votes and 10 outlasts. Rob lost 18, to both tribes, and leaves at 1410.7, -89.3 for the season and the lowest rating in the cast.

Savu gained without voting. The 7 players on Savu went to no tribal council this week and each gain 3.5 for outlasting Rob, from 1516.0 to 1519.5.

The model does not see why. The doctor cleared Rob to stay, and survivoR records the exit as a quit. SHALLOW scores a medical evacuation with no outlast losses at all, because the player did not choose to leave; a quit counts against everyone. The idol Rob gave Carter before leaving does not appear in SHALLOW. It appears in PROBST.

What PROBST Expects

Scoring Episode 3. PROBST gave Savu a 55% chance of going to tribal council; Savu won immunity and Toka, at 45%, went instead. Its first pick, Eric, was on Savu and immune. Patt was at 4.1%, 15th of 19, and 8.8% if Toka voted, 7th of 10 on Toka. Kilby, who drew the other 5 votes, was 8th on Toka. The episode had 2 events the forecast did not cover. Rob's quit is not scored, because the track record counts boots by vote. And PROBST had Carter on Savu; it could not see the mutiny that put Carter at Toka's tribal council. Through 3 boots PROBST's first pick has not been the player voted out. The Episode 3 snapshot shows the forecast under "Before this episode", recomputed with the current data; see Quick Hits.

Episode 4. PROBST has the tribes even, Savu and Toka each at 50% to go to tribal council, with no reason named for either. The episode most likely has 1 tribal council (85%), and there is a 15% chance of 2 eliminations in the episode. A tribe swap has a 26% chance this episode and the merge 1%.

Player Tribe Goes home If tribe votes Why
Eric Savu 12.3% 25.8% received votes last tribal; has received votes
Kilby Toka 10.5% 19.7% received votes last tribal; has received votes
Cristian Savu 6.4% 13.6% less airtime
Jenna Toka 6.1% 11.8% outside the largest bloc
Mike Toka 5.5% 10.5% wrong side of last vote; in the largest bloc pulls the other way
Everyone else 4.6-6.0% 8.7-12.5%
Carter Toka 3.0% 6.8% holds an idol; original tribe in the minority pulls the other way
Jelly Toka 2.5% 4.8% holds an idol

Eric and Kilby lead for the same reason: each drew the minority's votes at their tribe's last tribal council, 4 for Eric in Episode 2 and 5 for Kilby in Episode 3. Toka has 10 players and Savu 7, so every Toka number if the tribe votes starts from a smaller share. Cristian is 3rd for airtime, with 1 confessional in 3 episodes, the fewest in the cast.

Carter and Jelly hold the 2 idols and are the 2 players least likely to go home. Carter's other reason, original tribe in the minority, raises the number: Carter is the only Savu player on Toka. PROBST counts idols but not extra votes, so Devin's and Maggie's do not move their numbers.

Season odds. The rest of the season is simulated 10,000 times. With 17 players left an even share is 5.9%.

Player Tribe Reaches merge Final 3 Wins
Carter Toka 89.2% 26.5% 9.0%
Devin Toka 84.6% 24.6% 9.0%
Jelly Toka 90.4% 26.2% 8.2%
Lewis Toka 85.0% 21.8% 8.2%
Brady Toka 84.2% 20.6% 7.3%

All 5 are on Toka. Carter and Jelly hold the idols. Devin, Lewis and Brady have the most airtime in the cast, 23, 18 and 16 confessionals, and the simulation decides the final tribal council from airtime; Devin is level with Carter despite 2 wrong votes. Ori leads Savu at 6.0%. The simulation puts the merge most likely at Episode 6 (55%) or 7 (28%), and gives a 55% chance of a swap before it.

Before the merge the forecast rests on which tribe loses a challenge, and this week PROBST cannot separate the tribes at all.

Quick Hits

  • Episode 2 has been revised. The survivoR data now records Ori's vote for Eric as part of a split vote between Eric and Ana. SHALLOW counts a vote for either name in a split as correct when one of them goes home, so Ori's Episode 2 is now 3-0 and +16.0 instead of 0-6 and -20.0. The other 6 in Savu's majority beat 3 players instead of 4 and end the episode at 1516.0, not 1520.0; Carter and Rob lose to 7 instead of 6 and end at 1476.0, and Ana leaves at 1436.0. Last week's tables show the old numbers. The Episode 3 forecast on the snapshot is recomputed with the revised data, and Ori moves from 8.1% to 5.4% there.
  • Toka holds all 4 advantages in the game. Carter has Rob's idol, Jelly the idol found in Episode 2, and Devin and Maggie an extra vote each.
  • Carter had 10 confessionals in Episode 3 after none in Episode 2, tied with Devin for the most this episode.

BEAST Update

This week 1 challenge counted, reward and immunity together, and Savu won it 7 against 7. Savu went in at 1493.8 after losing both challenges in Episode 2, and 5 of Toka's 7 at 1506.2, so Savu, the lower rated side, gained 6.2 each.

Group Result BEAST Change
Savu (7 players) Won reward and immunity 1500.0 (B) +6.2
Brady, Devin, Jenna, Patt, Thien An (Toka) Lost 1500.0 (B) -6.2
Lewis (Toka) Lost 1505.7 (B) -6.3
Carter (Toka) Lost 1487.8 (C) -6.0
Jelly, Kilby, Maggie, Mike (Toka) Sat out 1506.2 (B) 0.0

Sitting out kept 4 players out of the loss, and they now share the highest BEAST in the cast, 1506.2. Lewis, who led last week at 1512.0, is 5th at 1505.7. Carter has competed for both tribes: 1 win with Savu in Episode 1, then 2 losses with Savu and 1 with Toka. Carter's 1487.8 is the lowest BEAST of the 17 players left.
