SHALLOW & BEAST Recap, Survivor 51 Episode 2

Published: 2026-10-06

Ana out 6-4 over Eric after production stopped Rob from voting for himself; for Episode 3 PROBST gives Savu 55% to return to tribal and has Eric at 9.8% to go home

TL;DR: Savu lost both challenges and voted out Ana 6-4 over Eric, after production told Rob he could not write his own name as part of a plan to save Eric. The 6 who voted Ana rise to 1520, the top of the season; Rob, Ori and Carter fall to 1480, and Ana leaves at 1440, the same -60 as Aaliyah. For Episode 3 PROBST gives Savu a 55% chance of going back to tribal council and has Eric at 9.8% to go home, Carter 8.5%, Ori 8.1%, Jenna 7.8%.

Episode Summary: SurvivorElo Episode 2

Quick refresher: SHALLOW rates strategic positioning (voting correctly + outlasting). BEAST rates challenge performance. Both use Elo, so gains and losses depend on relative ratings. Full methodology at survivorelo.com.

PROBST (PRobabilistic Odds for Boots, Swaps and Tribals) forecasts each episode before it airs. The Predictions page has this week's odds; each recap scores the forecast for the episode that just aired and shows the one for the next.

Episode 2: What Happened

Brady cut the tip of his thumb with an axe at the Toka camp; medical treated it and he stayed in the game. Jelly found an idol around the Toka camp on day 4, with no conditions beyond expiring at the final 5. Toka won the reward challenge and then the immunity challenge, which was held at sea. Kristin hurt her foot in the blindfolded reward challenge and treated it with herbs she found on the island. On Savu the plan for days had been Eric. It moved to Ana after Alexis heard her recapping a conversation to Carter and Cristian and took it to Sharonda and Linnea. Rob had a plan to save Eric: Eric would play his Shot in the Dark, and if it failed Rob would play his idol for Eric and write his own name, so that with the votes against Eric cancelled his own would be the only one left. Production told him a player cannot vote for himself. Neither Rob nor Eric played anything. Ana was voted out 6-4: Alexis, Cristian, Eric, Kristin, Linnea and Sharonda voted Ana; Ana, Carter, Ori and Rob voted Eric.

The Savu Vote

All 10 Savu players went into their first tribal council at 1500, so every matchup was worth 4 points, as Toka's were last week.

Player Vote Vote record Outlast record Start End Change
Alexis Ana 4-0 1-0 1500.0 1520.0 (C) +20.0
Cristian Ana 4-0 1-0 1500.0 1520.0 (C) +20.0
Eric Ana 4-0 1-0 1500.0 1520.0 (C) +20.0
Kristin Ana 4-0 1-0 1500.0 1520.0 (C) +20.0
Linnea Ana 4-0 1-0 1500.0 1520.0 (C) +20.0
Sharonda Ana 4-0 1-0 1500.0 1520.0 (C) +20.0
Carter Eric 0-6 1-0 1500.0 1480.0 (C) -20.0
Ori Eric 0-6 1-0 1500.0 1480.0 (C) -20.0
Rob Eric 0-6 1-0 1500.0 1480.0 (C) -20.0
Ana Eric 0-6 0-9 1500.0 1440.0 (D) -60.0

The 6 who voted Ana each beat the 4 who voted Eric for +16, and outlasted Ana for +4. Carter, Ori and Rob lost a matchup to each of the 6, -24, and got +4 back for outlasting Ana.

A 6-4 vote pays more than a 6-2. Toka's majority earned +16 in Episode 1 because 3 players were not on it: Devin, Jelly and Aaliyah. Savu's majority had 4 to beat. That 4 point difference puts Savu's 6 at the top of the season at 1520, ahead of Toka's 6 at 1516, without anyone on Toka moving.

Ana's -60.0 is Aaliyah's -60.0. Aaliyah played a Shot in the Dark and cast no vote; Ana voted for Eric. It makes no difference to the boot. A player voted out takes a loss to each correct voter and to each player who outlasts her, and both tribes had 10 players at tribal council and 6 correct voters. Her own ballot adds nothing.

Eric drew 4 votes and gained 20. SHALLOW does not charge a player for being targeted, only for voting wrong or leaving. Eric voted with the majority and outlasted Ana, so his line is the same as Alexis's. PROBST reads the same tribal council the other way; see below.

The model does not see why. Rob's plan was built to send himself home in Eric's place, and SHALLOW records it as one wrong vote. His -20.0 is the same as Ori's and Carter's. The idol he held and did not play does not appear in SHALLOW at all. It appears in PROBST.

SHALLOW and PROBST Disagree

SHALLOW rates what has happened. PROBST forecasts what happens next. After Episode 2 they point in opposite directions for 3 players.

Player Tribe SHALLOW SHALLOW rank Goes home, Episode 3 Wins season
Eric Savu 1520.0 (C) 1st of 18 (tied) 9.8%, highest 4.5%, 12th
Jelly Toka 1480.0 (C) 14th of 18 (tied) 2.9%, lowest 8.9%, 1st
Rob Savu 1480.0 (C) 14th of 18 (tied) 3.4%, 2nd lowest 8.6%, 2nd

The 18 are the rated players still in the game; Lewis has not been to tribal council.

Eric is tied for the top of SHALLOW and at the top of PROBST's list to go home. The reason PROBST names is the 4 votes: a player who drew votes at the last tribal council is more likely to draw them at the next, and for Eric it is the largest single reason the page shows for anyone this week. His chance of winning fell from 5.9% to 4.5%, 3rd to 12th.

Jelly and Rob are the reverse. Both voted with the minority at their tribe's only tribal council, and both sit at 1480, tied for the lowest SHALLOW rating among players still in the game. Both hold idols, and PROBST has them as the 2 players least likely to go home and the 2 most likely to win. Jelly found hers this week and moves from 8th to 1st, 4.9% to 8.9%. Rob led last week at 8.2% and is at 8.6%.

Neither model is wrong. SHALLOW measures the outcome of each vote; an idol in a pocket is not an outcome yet. PROBST measures the odds of the next one, and an idol in a pocket lowers them directly.

What PROBST Expects

Scoring Episode 2. PROBST had Toka at 54% to go to tribal council; Toka won immunity and Savu, at 46%, went instead. Its first pick, Jenna at 9.9%, was immune with the rest of Toka. Ana was at 4.9%, 14th of 19, and 10.6% if Savu voted, 7th of 10 in her tribe. No one on Savu had voted, and every Savu player but Rob sat between 4.4% and 5.1%; PROBST had nothing to separate Ana from the others. The Episode 2 snapshot shows the full forecast under "Before this episode".

Episode 3. PROBST gives Savu a 55% chance of going to tribal council and Toka 45%; the page names Savu's worse challenge form this season, 1 win in 3 against Toka's 2. One tribal council is most likely (84%); there is a 17% chance of 2 eliminations in the episode. A tribe swap has a 14% chance this episode and the merge 1%.

Player Tribe Goes home If tribe votes Why
Eric Savu 9.8% 17.9% received votes last tribal; has received votes
Carter Savu 8.5% 15.8% less airtime
Ori Savu 8.1% 15.1% no reason named
Jenna Toka 7.8% 17.2% received votes last tribal; has received votes
Devin Toka 6.3% 13.9% wrong side of last vote
Everyone else 3.9-5.2% 8.4-9.9% right side of last vote
Rob Savu 3.4% 6.2% holds an idol; more airtime
Jelly Toka 2.9% 6.3% holds an idol; wrong side of last vote pulls the other way

Eric is first for the reason above. Carter and Ori are next, and both voted with Rob for Eric. The page names less airtime for Carter, who has 2 confessionals in 2 episodes, and no reason for Ori; no part of his number is both large enough and sure enough for the page to name. Both sit above Jenna, whose number if her tribe votes is higher, because Savu is the more likely tribe to go.

Jenna and Devin carry over from last week. Toka won both challenges, so nothing in their records changed; Jenna drops from 9.9% to 7.8% mostly because Toka is less likely to go to tribal council. Her number if Toka votes moved less, from 18.4% to 17.2%.

Lewis is in the forecast this time. Last week the data through Episode 1 did not place him on a tribe; it now has him on Toka, at 4.5%.

Season odds. The rest of the season is simulated 10,000 times. With 19 players left an even share is 5.3%.

Player Tribe Reaches merge Final 3 Wins
Jelly Toka 86.4% 26.1% 8.9%
Rob Savu 84.2% 25.2% 8.6%
Devin Toka 77.2% 20.6% 7.4%
Lewis Toka 80.1% 20.7% 7.1%
Brady Toka 80.6% 18.2% 6.3%

The 2 idol holders lead. Devin and Lewis have the most airtime in the cast, 13 and 12 confessionals, and the simulation decides the final tribal council from airtime; Devin is 3rd despite the wrong vote in Episode 1. Toka, which has won 2 of 3 challenges, has 4 of the top 5. The simulation puts the merge most likely at Episode 6 (53%) or 7 (28%), and gives a 62% chance of a swap before it, most likely in Episode 4 (21%) or 5 (20%).

Before the merge the forecast rests on which tribe loses a challenge, and with 2 tribes that is close to a coin flip. Through 2 boots PROBST's first pick has not been the player voted out.

Quick Hits

  • Kilby is the name in the data now. The Episode 1 recap called him Danny; the survivoR data has since changed his short name to Kilby, the name he goes by on the show. The site follows the data.
  • Cristian has 1 confessional in 2 episodes, the fewest in the cast. Carter, Cristian and Thien An had none in Episode 2.
  • Every rating in this cast is still a multiple of 4. Each tribe has voted once, with everyone at 1500, so no matchup has been worth anything but 4 points. The first vote between players at different ratings will break that.

BEAST Update

This week 2 challenges counted, reward and immunity, and Toka won both. Toka went in at 1494.0 after losing in Episode 1 and Savu at 1506.0. As the lower rated side Toka gained a little over 6 points per challenge.

Group Result BEAST Change
Toka (9 players from Episode 1) Won reward and immunity 1506.2 (B) +12.2
Lewis (Toka) Won reward and immunity 1512.0 (B) +12.0
Savu (10 players) Lost reward and immunity 1493.8 (C) -12.2

Lewis has the highest BEAST in the cast, 1512.0. Exile Island kept him out of Toka's Episode 1 loss, and he has won both challenges since. Ana leaves at 1493.8 and Aaliyah stays at 1494.0. The tribes have traded places from last week; until there is an individual result or a swap, BEAST moves in tribes.
